Cell Phone Policy
The policy of the school is strongly to advise that valuables and cell phones are not brought to school. We recognise the need for learners and parents to be able to contact each other to change arrangements and have installed public phones on the property for the girls to use.
If a learner decides to bring a cell phone to school, she does so at her own risk, and the following will apply.
- The cell phone is to be kept with the learner at all times and should never be left unattended e.g. in blazer pocket left in class room
- The cell phone must be switched off (not be on silent) and may only be
- switched on during lunch break and after school to contact parents.
- During tests and examinations, cell phones must be left at home as the learner may not keep them on her person. Cell phones which ring during an examination or test may result in 0 for the test/examination and will result in disciplinary procedures. If this occurs during a matric examination, the learner will be disqualified by the Department of Education from writing her examinations/ receiving a result for 2 years.
- The school will bear no responsibility for the loss/theft or damage of/to cell phones on the property. Girls are encouraged to hand in cell phones at the office for safekeeping or place them in a securely locked locker if it is necessary, on occasion, to have them at school. Cell phones handed in must be clearly labelled with the learner’s name.
This is the official cell phone policy of the school and is binding on all learners. Please sign this policy to indicate that you have read and understand the cell phone policy.
