Examinations – Policies and Procedures

RULES

  • There is to be absolute silence in and around the buildings during exam times. Any pupil creating any sort of disturbance during breaks or exams will spend one hour in detention on that day.
  • From the moment that the Invigilator begins to hand out papers, until the exam is over and the invigilator informs the class that they may converse, there is to be absolute silence.
  • Any pupil attempting to communicate in any way with any other pupil, will be given 0 for the paper, and will spend one hour in detention on that day.
  • Once the exams have started, learners may NOT borrow:
    staples, pins, pencils, pens, maths instruments, tissues, calculators
  • Learners who complete the exam paper before the allocated time, may NOT hand in their answers early and may NOT read or do any other work during the exam period.
  • If a pupil feels ill and needs to leave the exam room, please contact the office for help.
  • Learners must sit in alphabetical order in the classroom.
  • Cell phones must be switched off and stored in lockers or bags, or given to the invigilator, before the start of the examination.
  • Only items relevant to the exam such as pens, pencils, maths instruments etc. may be on the pupil’s desk..  No “lucky charms” are allowed into the examination room.
  • All bags must be stored, closed, away from the desks, as instructed by the invigilator.
  • All exam papers must be pinned or stapled.  Paper clips may not be used as the papers come apart.
  • All answer sheets must have:
    the pupil’s name and class, the subject teacher’s name, the subject name
    and the date written at the top.
    three lines left blank at the top, immediately under the names and date.
    a margin drawn down the right hand side of every page.
  • Learners must be punctual for the exam and are to be silent when entering their exam venue
  • Learners are expected to keep the exam rooms tidy:
  • desks, posters and any other equipment in the classrooms must be treated with respect.  Learners found disobeying this rule must be sent to the Grade Head or principal after the exam.

CLASSROOMS

  • Turn the posters around.
  • Move the teacher’s desk and chair to the back of the classroom.
  • Separate the desks and move them to the front of the class in rows.
  • Organise a cleaning roster.
  • All learners are to leave the classrooms during break – in the event of rain they may go to the tuckshop.
