Wynberg has established its own, unique brand of Hockey over the years and is currently one of the top 5 schools in the league in the Western Cape.  Fitness and skills sessions start early in the 1st term to coincide with Indoor Hockey in preparation for the start of the Hockey season in Term 2.

We consider ourselves fortunate to have an Astroturf in our very own backyard and this, coupled with our experienced coaches, ensure that we stay up to date with the latest Hockey trends. All of our Hockey teams are given the opportunity to train on the Astro.

We ensure that our coaches regularly attend coaching/umpiring courses so as to offer our players only the best training and skills.
Apart from the weekly league fixtures the Hockey teams also participate in:

• The Brothers International Hockey Festival
• The Annual All Girls’ Schools Sports and Cultural Festival (Potchefstroom 2012)
• Derby Days versus Paarl Gimnasium and La Rochelle
• The Annual PGSGU Interschools’ Hockey Tournament
• As well as the Founder’s Day Hockey matches,
• Old Girls’ vs 1st Team and the U14A’s versus the U13A’s.

Over the years we have gone on several overseas Hockey tours. The last saw us taking our 1st Team to Beijing in 2009.

2011 has been our most successful season to date, having come 5th overall in the Brothers International Hockey Festival in July and winning the much coveted u19 PGSGU Interschools trophy in September.

We currently have 8 Hockey teams entered into the Western Province Schools league and we hope to build on this in 2012.
