The Wynberg Boys’ Acting Association worked throughout this term to polish up works performed throughout 2017, and put on an incredible showcase of our students’ talents. Well done to everyone, you were show-stopping!

The John Baxter Theatre Showcase was held on Friday 22 September at Wynberg Boys’ High School. This evening showcased most of the work that the girls and boys have performed this year. This included mono and duologues done for the Cape Town Eisteddfod, the winning inter-house play at Wynberg Boys’ High and a shortened version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ which was performed in May at the Baxter Theatre for the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival. This showcase also debuted ‘Contact’- an original play written by Gerrard Damons, who is in Grade 11 at Wynberg  Boys’ High.  The students of WBAA  performed a single scene out of this thought-provoking play which left the audience very moved. A proud moment for WBAA.

It was on this occasion that Boys’ High also announced that the major production for 2018 is… Shrek the musical.

As aspiring actors and actresses, we continually support each other in each of our performing endeavors. With that said, the students of WBAA have to say a heartfelt goodbye to Simone Neethling in Matric who has been a part of WBAA for the past 5 years and in numerous Shakespeare productions because of WBAA.
