The school had reason to be exceptionally proud of our girls as they worked together with Boys’ High to host a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment for a number of guests from nearby old age homes.

On Friday 4 November, the Heads of Service and Culture at the Wynberg High Schools hosted a concert for the Elderly.

Wynberg Girls’ High School was a place of great excitement and enthusiastic preparations as the final touches were added to the hall for our annual concert and tea for the elderly on 4 November.

This project is an initiative of both the Service and Cultural pillars, where the heads of the two pillars work together with our counterparts at Wynberg Boys’ High School to provide an afternoon of tea and entertainment for senior citizens from the old age homes within our community.

This year some of the top performers from both schools treated them to a range of items from short story readings, to dance, singing and music. The programme was slick, utterly professional and extremely entertaining.

There was little doubt that the afternoon was enjoyed by everyone involved is a salutary reminder of the importance of taking time to spend time with those who most appreciate it. Sometimes all it takes to make a significant difference in someone else’s life is to show a genuine interest.  It was an interest which was in great abundance on this occasion.  We congratulate and thank all of those who were involved: members of the occasions team, our Service Pillar and the Cultural Pillar.
