It is a tradition at Wynberg Girls’ High that the school leaders welcome the Grade Eights to the school by hosting a pool party before the start of school. 2012 was no exception. The day is carefully planned by the leaders of the school to be a wonderful day of fun and making new friends. It is also opportunity for the members of the School Council, the Matric Leaders and the Grade Eights to spend a couple of hours together without the structure of formal school. The following video clip is one of the ice breakers used by Rayne and Ashley to get the Grade 8′s warmed up.
In outlandish dress in their house-colours, the leaders of 2012 welcomed the Grade Eights, and with some extraordinary experiences in ice breakers, a tour of the school to remind them of where their tutor groups and lessons would be, relaxing at the pool and some “thrilling” dance and choreography opportunities not one of them looked ready to go home at the end of the event.

At the end of the day, the houses with the greatest creativity and confidence as represented by the Grade Eights were announced. Judging by the delight of the Grade Eights, it’s clear that a number of them certainly feel at home already.
We do hope that their first day at high school was a wonderful one and that they will have a wonderful time at their school of choice.
