Swimming, touring the school, singing, sandwich making, running, jumping, listening, talking, even acting: this is how the Grade Eights got to know their new school over the first four days at Wynberg. Day 1 was run by the school council and was spent getting to know about the school, their new house and the leaders – everything from uniform to rules to drinking fountains. It was educational but also very entertaining. The Matric Leaders took their tutor groups around the school, pointing out House Boards, Pillar Boards, the Sacred Grass and everything they needed to know. They also enjoyed the sun next to the pool.

The first official day of school focused on the Wynberg Way and the Academic pillar, the second day was all about the Service and Culture pillars, and included learning the school song, making sandwiches and interacting with the various societies and clubs within these pillars. The last day was all about the Sports pillar. The girls participated in a mini-athletics competition and chatted to the various sports representatives. Throughout this time, house spirit was encouraged and there were many house challenges for which the Grade Eights could score points for their houses. It was a fun and easy introduction to high school life before the routine of changing classes and venues swung into action late on Friday afternoon.
