Mrs de Waal shares Wynberg’s best practice at Language Symposium.

The Afrikaans Department did exceptionally well last year in the National Senior Certificate – we achieved 22 A’s, 49 B’s and 33 C’s and Wynberg is the top Government school in the Metropole. The department performed exceptionally well in Paper 2 with the average being 20% above that of the Provincial average.

At a recent language symposium held on Saturday 4 February, Mrs Ingrid de Waal, Head of the Afrikaans department was asked to share some of the best practices at Wynberg with the schools attending the symposium. Part of the success can be attributed to the fact that she said that the Afrikaans teachers form a team who work and plan together, they find solutions together and there is a great spirit of camaraderie amongst the staff members. There is always much fun and laughter and fun but a very clear sense of purpose.
