All Girls’ School Choir Festival

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination
and life to everything.

On the 22nd of September 2014, Wynberg Girls’ High School hosted the annual All Girls’ School Choir Festival at St George’s Cathedral. As soon as everyone arrived, there was a flurry of excitement as each choir took their turn to organise their positions on the stage, and did a quick sound check. Promptly at 19:00 pm, after a warm welcome from Mrs Harding, the evening of beautiful music began.

The festival included a huge variety of songs, from traditional to contemporary songs like ‘Let it go’ (Frozen). All in all it was an evening of celebrating the joy and beauty of music. All the choirs who performed were exceptional to watch and made the night an enormous success. After our very own vocal ensemble and choir ended their exquisite performances, there was a short thank you delivered by Beth Petersen (Head of Culture 2015) as well as the presenting of flowers to the talented conductors and accompanists to end off the evening.

This year’s choir festival was a display of just how talented the girls’ schools are and I am sure everyone is looking forward to next year’s festival.
