Mr Burrell began the new term with a presentation on Greek Mythology and its relevance in today’s world. Important Greek gods were described; ancient myths of the origin and the creation of the world retold and then discussed with reference to the modern world.

As the origin of Western civilization – the Greeks are of  singular importance and interest to almost anyone. Of particular interest were the predominant misogynistic attitudes of the Greeks, and the many similarities between their creationist myths and various religious beliefs today.

The Athenians thoroughly enjoyed the talk and discussion. Thank you to the support staff for providing refreshments for the occasion and to Mr Burrell for his informative presentation.
