The 2014 CANSA Relay, held at Vygies Kraal Stadium, Athlone took place on 7 March. The event is centred  on warm tents and delicious snacks where eager participants take turns taking laps around the stadium singing, dancing, walking or running for 12 hours. The symbolic significance of this all-nighter is a salient reminder that cancer never sleeps.

In a record breaking effort, Wynberg Girls’ High School entered 17 teams (about 225 entrants) into the relay. This means that we raised R 11 050 in support of the cause! Wynberg also donated 175 toothbrushes and 156 toothpaste tubes to make up packs for all guest cancer survivors attending the event.

Haroen, a representative of the Athlone  CANSA relay’s committee was absolutely blown away by the commitment, respect and energy shown by our girls, which is why it was no surprise that Wynberg Girls’ High School was presented with the ‘award’ as the group with the most entries.
