The WGHS Senior Marimba Band spent a festive evening at the Baxter Theatre on Friday, 24th April  with 160 other marimba players from schools all over Cape Town. Hosted by Woodworx Marimbas and the Cape Town Big Jazz Band Festival, everyone arrived for a rehearsal at 16h00 until the show began at 19h45. The show consisted of various solo items, of which our girls played two, and ended with a mass piece of Shaka and In the Jungle. Each group showcased major marimba talent and got the audience of 640 people in a roar. This festival brings alive the beauty of marimba playing of which involvement and interest has significantly increase over the past years.
