On the evening of the 26th February 2015, Wynberg Girls’ High School hosted the annual Careers Evening. Students and parents from both Wynberg High Schools attended.

The evening started at 5:30pm with a half an hour period for students and parents present to explore various colleges, universities and specialized study institutions in the hall, ballet hall and the gym. Various colleges, tertiary institutions and universities were present. These included: UCT, UWC, City Varsity, ETA College, SCAP, Ruth Prowse School of Art, Elizabeth Galloway Fashion Design and AFDA to name a few. Each institution on display in one of the three venues was advertising a career in a different field.

At 6pm, people were able to listen to a number of talks which included the fields of  Advertising, Food Development, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Fashion Design, Finance, Medicine and  a guide to applying to universities correctly took place in various venues around the school until 7pm. The talks were repeated, which meant that each student or parent present could attend more than one.

All in all, the evening was a huge success, with a large turnout from students at both schools.

A huge thanks to Mrs Patel for all the planning and effort that was put into the evening, the universities and institutions present, all the guest speakers, the maintenance staff and security who were on campus throughout the evening and the tuck-shop staff. For the students who attended the evening, it was much appreciated.
