On Tuesday, 14 March 2017, Wynberg Girls’ High School hosted the annual Careers Evening. This year the evening was jam-packed – full of eager students and parents wanting to learn about their prospective study fields and career paths!

The Careers evening started at 17:30. Students, and their parents, were welcome to explore the 66 different tertiary institutions that were set up in the hall, ballet hall and gym. These institutions ranged from colleges to universities to specialized study institutions including UCT, University of Stellenbosch, Varsity College, Pearson Institute, ETA College, UWC just to name few. Each institution displayed various information, held out detailed pamphlets and attendees were encouraged to talk to the representative of the university to find out extra information. During the course of the evening, there were also 17 guest speakers hosting talks and presentations about their chosen career fields and the opportunities within that. These talks took place around the school in half an hour slots and presenters ranged from Medical Doctors, to Chefs, to PR and Design to Civil Engineering. There was such a wide range of talks, and students were more than content after these informative presentations. All in all, the evening was a huge success, with much participating from students of both WGHS and WBHS. The evening was run smoothly and left everyone satisfied and filled to the brink with the necessary information.

A huge thank you to Mrs  Patel, who organised and planned the whole event and for the effort that was put into the evening, to the guest speakers and institutions, the tuck-sh0p staff and the security staff at WGHS.
