On Wednesday, 10 May, the Cross Country girls competed in a race at Muizenberg High School. It went a lot better than the week before as we are getting fitter with each training week, as well as the course being fairly flat the whole way. It took place on their school fields so we didn’t have the most interesting view, but we do always have the mountains to admire when we feeling tired and drained and need that distraction.

In the U14 age group, Rebecca Beardwood placed in the top 20 and in the U16 age group, Karen Roodman placed 13th and Sarah Jane Deary finished 10th.In the U19 section, Mikayla Gray placed in the top 20. Well done to those girls as well as the rest of the team: Charlotte, Cailyn and Mia. The first Most Valuable Athlete of the season award for cross country goes to Karen Roodman for all her hard work in training as she does not only run for the school but after our practice she goes for extra training sessions with her club. Because of her dedication she is nominated the most valuable athlete. She also has come up with a new training idea and places for the team to go run. This will add interest and fun into routine.
