On the 12 September 2013, eleven members of the Enviro Club were selected to attend the Arbour Day celebration and Treaty Signing at Wynberg Park.

Wynberg Girls’ High School, Wynberg Boys’ High School and Springfield Girls’ High School were all a part of the ceremony. The girls enjoyed some eats before sitting in on a short presentation about the importance and origin of Arbor Day hosted by members of the Cape Town City Parks Group. After the presentation, Silver Leaf trees were planted. These trees are both indigenous and a part of the Cape’s Fynbos family. Wynberg Girls’ and Boys’ planted four Silver Leaf trees.

Following tree planting, the girls got their hands dirty and began removing some of the Alien vegetation from the park. It was both an enriching and exciting experience for all.
