HongjuHongju has been accepted as a student by Dr Liesl Stoltz. Dr Stoltz currently performs extensively as soloist and chamber musician and teaches at the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town. She regularly acts as adjudicator for local eisteddfods and music competitions and has appeared as soloist with the Cape Town, Eastern Cape and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestras, the Free State Symphony, the UCT String Ensemble and the Camerata Tinta Barocca. For further information about her illustrious career, please follow the link.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for HongJu, for whom the flute is her second instrument. In 2014, taught by Mr Clinton Claasen, Hongju passed her Trinity Grade 8 Piano exams with distinction (90% ) when she was in Grade 9. At the time, we made the comment that to pass this demanding examination well was achievement enough, but to have done so with such an astonishing result, was reason to be very proud. Hongju was mentioned in the Trinity Achievers’ List for her mark at the time.
We are delighted that Hongju will have to opportunity to be taught by Dr Stoltz. The school will be watch her career path with much interest.
