On Saturday the 4 February, the School Council, consisting our Head leaders for 2017, took their leadership skills beyond the school gates and into the community. The Sisanda FunDaytion Connect Day is a regular outreach program that the Sisanda FunDaytion run in order to give children from Capricorn Primary a day of fun, games, food and laughter.

This year, the Connect Day took place at Claremont Congregational Church. The leaders were met at 8:30 by other Sisanda volunteers and given t-shirts and name tags, followed by a brief of how the day would work. At 9:00 the children arrived. For this Connect Day, the children hosted were a group 32 Grade 3s from Capricorn Primary, which is a public trust school situated just outside of Muizenberg.

The Fun Day is a hugely collaborative effort with sponsors from Butlers, PEP stores, Truworths, HCI Foundation and Evotec and individual donations. The children were kept busy and entertained as they rotated through 8 games and activities, arts and crafts. Amongst these activities were the crafting bracelets and cards, Bowling and Limbo, the making of Minions, Charades and Musical Chairs. In each activity, the children were given different kinds of sweets and prizes that they could eat or keep to take home.

The children as well as the volunteers had an absolutely amazing experience playing all the fun games and activities. For us, it was one of the most heartwarming experiences we have ever taken part in.
