It was a privilege for Interactors from both Wynberg High Schools to participate in the Rotary Family Health day – the “signature programme for Family Health and AIDS Prevention.” The Rotary program aims “to promote healthy living and disease prevention by implementing a massive, annual campaign in four countries in Africa and in India that provides comprehensive, free health care services tens of thousands of people in underprivileged communities. The services include lifelong immunizations to children, such as polio and measles vaccines and comprehensive life-saving annual screens such as HIV, TB, Malaria, Diabetes, Hypertension and more.”

For us, it was an eye opening and humbling experience. We were involved at the level of assisting the nurses, Rotarians and the members of the Vrygrond community by filling in statistics, giving directions to the various facilities and generally helping the staff in whatever was needed –  cups of coffee were definitely needed throughout the day! The event ran from 9:00 until 15:00 and for all of us was a very impressive initiative.
