The Grade 10 information evening took place on Wednesday 13February and we were very pleased with the number of parents and learners who attended the evening.

The purpose of the evening was not only to inform parents about the academic challenges that lie ahead for their daughters in the next three years, but also to encourage the parents and the girls to support and encourage one another in the next phase of their lives.

Three Grade 11 girls, Christin Sands, Tegan Welz and Thaakiyah Wentzel-Ryklief, opened the evening’s proceedings with an informative and witty presentation on their experiences as they moved from Grade 9 to Grade 10. Covering topics from how to handle the workload, to balancing your extra-mural, social and school life to tips and suggestions for succeeding academically, they did an excellent job.  Mrs McEwen quipped that she was unsure what she as academic head could add, as they really had touched on everything.

Mrs McEwen talked about the promotion and performance criteria for the FET phase as well as the introduction of the new CAPS syllabus and Mrs Harding concluded the evening’s proceedings with what is expected from girls now that they are ‘all grown-up’ and the seniors of the school. She touched on the many opportunities that are offered at Wynberg and encouraged girls to look ahead to becoming the future leaders of Wynberg Girls’ High.

A booklet with all relevant subject information was distributed. Click here should you want an electronic copy of this document.
