On the 29 and 30 of April, the Grade 11 History girls had the privilege of visiting the Holocaust Museum in Cape Town. We all found it to be a very enriching experience. Apart from learning a lot about the Holocaust itself, it has particular resonance in South Africa. The visit gave valuable insight into the conditions in Germany during the Nazi occupation, which we are covering in our syllabus this year.
During the outing we watched documentaries about Jewish individuals who had survived the Holocaust and had valuable discussions thereafter. We also toured the exhibition in smaller groups: many girls were deeply moved by what they saw and learnt.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the outing and would like to thank our History teachers for the wonderful opportunity they organised for us.
