Wynberg 4th indoor vs Table View

A scoring summary

Wynberg started the game off really well and positively making sure that they put the Table View team under pressure from the start. Their basics were better and they passed to each other also making use of the all important board! Each team member worked hard to protect their feet and defend with their sticks nice and low. Wynberg also managed to get some short corners but were unable to convert these. Kiara then opened the scoring with a sneaky goal through the goal keepers legs. It was long after this that Kiara once again scored giving Wynberg a 2-0 lead. Table View fought back and put the Wynberg team under some pressure winning some short corners but Wynberg did well to defend these without conceding. Table View scored their goal with 4 minutes to go during open play.

Player of the match:  Kiara Rossouw

The final score:  Wynberg 2-1 Table View

Comment from the coach:

Very happy and proud of how the girls played this match, they gave it everything that they had and their team spirit was outstanding!! A much improved performance.

Wynberg 3rd indoor vs Pinelands 2nds

A scoring summary

Wynberg started the game poorly and were asleep in the first 5 minutes and were made to pay dearly for that. They conceded 4 goals in these first 5 minutes. With a change in the system the goal keeper was removed and Wynberg played with 5 players for the remainder of the match. The want and drive that they Wynberg showed put Pinelands on the back foot. We won 4 short corners but were unable to convert and defended two defensive short corners brilliantly. Our goal came from brilliant inter play between the whole team with patient build up from the back and accurate shooting from Lutho to sore our only goal of the game.

Player of the match:  Amber-Rose Bailey

The final score:  Wynberg 1 – 4 Pinelands

Comment from the coach:

A little bit disappointed in the team as had they been alert and awake from the beginning thatwould have had a real opportunity to collect their first win of the season. I cannot take away from them their spirit that that showed in the last 20 minutes of the game.
