Hockey stickOn Tuesday 15 August, Wynberg’s 1st hockey team played a touring match against Malvern College from the UK. The game was fairly even for the first two quarters, with both teams struggling to convert their scoring opportunities.

Wynberg started to improve their play in the third quarter and following a tomahawk goal from Amina Williams, Wynberg took the lead 1-0. The girls aimed to improve their marking and passing during the last quarter. They played consistently and their efforts payed off with a far post deflection scored by Katherine Nicholls in the final seconds of the match.

Wynberg won the fixture 2-0 despite some good attacking play from their opposition. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable game and as always, it was a wonderful experience to play against a foreign team. Well done, girls, and we wish you the best of luck for your next fixture!
