On the weekend of the 11 to the 13 April, two Interacters, Huda Ely and Lara Harris attended the Rotaract Camp held in Glencairn in Simon’s Town. The involved schools were Wynberg Girls’ and Boys’ High, Herschel, Springfield, Heathfield and Bergvliet.

We started off with an ice-breaker games night, where we were able to get to know everyone. On Saturday the games began, ranging from egg and spoon races to a blind-folded obstacle course filled with flour and water.

Earlier that morning we had 2 workshops, consisting of a gap year presentation and an informing talk by the blind association of Cape Town. Both presentations opened our eyes to new opportunities for our respective societies.

We were given the opportunity to talk to the committee of Rotary about our executive positions in Interact. This camp taught us a lot about team work and leadership as well as how important community service is to global growth. The members of the Wynberg Rotaract had thorough preparations which made it an enjoyable, beneficial and successful camp. The girls were very grateful for the opportunity and look forward to sharing their insight with fellow Interacters.
