After the success of the Rock of Ages concert, hosted by the Service and Cultural Pillars, Interact decided to spend some time  with the elderly at Murambi House Retirement and Convalescent Home. It  is right on the doorstep of the Wynberg Campus and consequently it is a very small thing to pop in to see the residents on Monday, Febrauary 4th.

For many of our Interactors, this was the first time that they had ever visited an old age home or had been to an institution like Murambi House. There was nervousness and excitement as one of the biggest Service societies entered the home.

The purpose of the visit was primarily to chat to the residents , but the girls had made cards for the residents, and we were encouraged to sing the school song to a most appreciative audience! A resident said that our laughter was such a welcome sound and another commented on the “beautiful heart and spirit” of one of the Interactors. Girls assured the residents that we would be back soon. They all said that the senior citizens that they had met had the most interesting life stories and some amazing words of wisdom.

All in all it was a fantastic afternoon.
