The PGSGU interschools squash tournament was held at WPCC on Saturday the 19th of September.

Each round was 9 minutes of continuous play, the aim being  to earn as many points as possible. 3 points were awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss.

Four schools competed; Rustenberg, Herschel,  and Wynberg. The Wynberg team consisted of Demi Steenkamp, Kaylee Marshall, Isobel Evans, Inge Tripod and captain Nhadia Gustavo.

Wynberg first match was against  Herschel, with Wynberg winning 12-3. They then played extremely well against Rustenberg and won 15-0. Springfield were their last opponents of the day. This was a highly contested fixture as Springfield were the defending champions. Wynberg players were on top form as they beat them 9-6.

Tensions were high as the teams waited for the score to be tallied. The end results saw Rustenberg in 4th and Herschel in 3rd and Springfield in 2nd meaning that Wynberg was the top team.

The team was ecstatic as the last time they had won was in 2009. We are celebrating their determination and high levels of sportsmanship shown on the day.
