On Saturday, 17 September, the WGHS Interact Committee met with a number of other Interact Societies within the Western Cape. Members  from Swellendam to Simon’s Town came together to attend the Interact Workshop hosted by the Rotary Club of Wynberg at SACS Junior School.

The day started at 08:30 and the day was filled with a number of leadership training exercises, interactive workshops and inspirational speakers. Organizers from the Sunflower Fund, Shelter Box as well as the Santa Shoebox Project were there to inform us of what they do and how their organizations started. In many instances they started from something small and flourished into the very successful organizations that better the lives of thousands of people.

We were also told about the Rotary Youth Exchange that takes place in countries such as Switzerland, Colombia, Mexico, Italy, France, Brazil and Belgium. There is so much out there in the world and there is little doubt that it has the potential to  change our lives.

As the Interact Committee, we were inspired by and motivated to making service a much bigger part of our lives at school, at home and in the community. We aim to bring exciting new ideas to our interact society in the upcoming year.
