It is exactly a month to go before beautiful fairytale ballet, The Nutcracker, opens at the Artscape on 15 December. It is a Christmas story in which a young girl, Marie, finds herself in a fantastic world where her toys become larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the Mouse King, then is turned into a Prince after Marie saves his life.

The show, featuring the Cape Town City Ballet Dancers, runs from 15- 23 December, and one of Wynberg’s Grade 9 ballet dancers, Juliette Lindup, is in the show. She will be dancing as a Mirliton en pointe in all  eleven performances and is hard at work counterbalancing the academic and theatrical demands placed on her.

There is little doubt that there is a treat in store for all ballet lovers in December.
