For one to try and imagine the hours of absolute sweating, perseverence, practice and passionate chaos that takes place in the life of a music student is well nigh impossible, yet the end results – a few short minutes of a masterpiece, played by the matric music students of 2012 – demonstrated that the language of music together with the correct ingredients of  time, love and attitude, is a language that eloquently speaks to all.

On Tuesday 28 August the annual Matric Music concert was hosted in the Aileen Currie Hall. It is an evening that provides a platform for the Matric Students which staff, parents and friends can attend. The pieces are those that they will be playing in their final practical exam in September.

Musicians looked spectacular and gave performances which certainly delighted the audience. The program  included piano, violin, flute, vocal and trumpet items. We bring you just a few of the highlights from performers Celeste Botha, Yeji Jung and Helen Slater. Our young musicians poured their hearts into their works, and it was clear that they had put hours of work into their pieces, making it seem entirely effortless. Well done to the music staff and Matrics for creating a superb evening’s entertainment.
