The first team Waterpolo girls took part in the annual tournament hosted by Reddam College and turned many heads by making it into the plate semifinal- a first for Wynberg.

Four games were played in the pool stages against some of the very best schools in the country, and those games established a trend of learning and improving our play in each game. One match was won against Rhenish (5-0) and many more goals  were scored compared to the previous year’s performance. Our Wynberg team played exceptionally but mistakes in each game proved costly. Having said this, there was a nail-biting finish in the last match played against Springfield which resulted in a score of 7-5 to us after going to penalties.

St Peter’s: 8-4 loss
Rhenish: 5-0 win
Herschel: 9-3 loss
23 September
Pearson: 17-1 loss
Durban Girls: 13-0 loss
DSG: 2-1 loss
24 September
Springfield: 7-5 win.
At no time did our team give up: showed great heart and never ever stop working to prove that they deserved to be playing at this very high level of waterpolo. Our performance saw us ending 15th out of 20 schools, 3 places better than last year.
I, Britt Gutuza, as captain of this team would like to just express how exceptionally proud I am of this extraordinary group of girls and thank them for all that they have taught me, all we have experienced as a team
