On Tuesday the 25th of February an extremely eager swimming team took part in the PGSU interschools swimming gala which was held at Herschel Girls High school at 15:30. It was a truly spectacular day filled with team spirit.

Erin Slater swam the 200m individual open medley and came 5th, we are extremely proud of her as she swam her best and she managed to achieve her personal best time.

The u14’s placed 4th overall and this is an achievement of which they can be proud. The Freestyle Relay Team achieved their personal best time. We are very excited for the future of Wynberg swimming because it is clearly in promising hands.

The u16’s placed 5th overall and showed so much improvement from the start of the season. Maryam Adams tied 4th in the individual 50m freestyle relay, and we are super proud of her because she swam her hardest and continues to strive for the best and remain positive. Lauren Wiemers swam the 50m backstroke and was placed 4th beating the Springfield swimmer by a millisecond.

The u19’s were placed 5th overall. A special thank you goes to all our U16 swimmers for assisting in the swimming gala and stepping up to swim for the u19 team in both relay races and in two individual races. This was much appreciated because it is very difficult to swim out of one’s age group amongst bigger and stronger swimmers.

The Wynberg Girls’ High School Swimming Team continues to remain positive and this positivity has definitely filtered through and we can see a massive improvement in the team spirit and unity throughout the team.
