Official opening of Wynberg Girls’ High Aquatic Sports Centre

The Wynberg Girls’ High School Aquatic Sports Centre was officially opened yesterday evening by the City of Cape Town’s Director of Recreation, Sport and Amenities, Mr Gert Bam.

The school has built a multipurpose pool that can now be used for all aquatic sports including swimming, waterpolo and synchronised swimming. Mr Bam was impressed that schools such as Wynberg had invested in the upgrading of our school sports facilities to encourage youth to become involved in recreational activities. He said that their pool project was perfectly aligned with the new Sports Plan for South Africa which aims to encourage citizens to get more involved in recreational activities on a regular basis and in so doing help our Country to become an “Active Nation”.

The evening was a wonderful display of aquatic sports offered at Wynberg Girls’ High School with performances by the Barracudas Synchronised Swimming Club and a Water polo match between the First Team and a Past Pupils’ Team.
