Prue Leith Chef’s Academy

On the 4th of September, Kagiso Jantjies and Jesse Kleintjies were lucky enough to attend and participate in the Pick ‘n Pay Cooking Competition at Prue Leith Cooking Academy.  A lot of preparation took place before they actually submitted their entry form.  They had to prepare and perfect 6 dishes, take pictures of them and motivate each dish as to why they had chosen them.

After the submission they had an anxious wait to find out if they were finalists.

They successfully got into the Masterclass section which was extremely exciting, as they would witness first hand, a demonstration by a head chef.

Their task was to reproduce a “peanut-butter cream cheese filling, swiss roll with peanut brittle sprinkled inside”.  Jesse and Kagiso learnt a great deal, extending their culinary skills and knowledge.

They might not have won, but they had an incredible experience – staying in a 5 star Hotel and eating at 5 star restaurants. They were certainly inspired by all that they learnt and are excited at the opportunity of coming back to class to share their new knowledge with their Consumers class.
