Rehana OdendaalWithin the four pillars of Wynberg, Rehana demonstrates equal ability.   She is an active and able sportswoman, works within the cultural pillar as an exceptional debater and Head of the Photographic Society where she has initiated participation in national competitions.  Rehana also maintains a very high academic average.

However, it is within the Service Pillar that she has made such an exceptional contribution.  Her service, as Head of the Service Pillar, through many hours of work in the technical team, the web committee, the Feedback Sandwich scheme, arranging the fun days at the school for less privileged children, culminated this year in the initiation of a tutoring and mentoring programme which aims to use the resources and facilities we have at Wynberg and share these with less privileged learners.  In association with Equal Education, this has resulted in a weekly programme where Grade 9 learners are transported to Wynberg Girls’ High School to be tutored in Mathematics, Science and English by academically strong senior learners.

Rehana remains humble, is open-minded and actively promotes values of inclusivity and diversity.  The Golden Lion Award particularly recognizes her great value as an ambassador of Wynberg Girls’ High School in the wider community, when she was recently awarded the Amy Biehl Foundation Award for 2010. Please acknowledge this worthy recipient of this highest award of our school.
