On Friday 3 March 2017, WGHS 1st tennis team played their final league fixture of season away against St Cyprian’s . Despite the somewhat drastic changes in the weather, it was a good afternoon of tennis. This fixture also marked the final school tennis match for our Matrics. It was definitely a lovely way to end off 5 years of serving, rallying and handshaking.

Katherine Nicholls and Savannah Wiegand (playing no.s 1 and 2) had a very good doubles match, despite losing 8-3. The girls were tenacious on the court and had some lovely rallies. Isobel Evans and Inge Tripod (no.s 3 and 4) also had a closely contested match, losing 8-5. Unfortunately, Wynberg did lose all of their singles matches. However, the girls really did demonstrate a high level of tennis and it is wonderful to see how far everyone has come. Mention must go to Isobel (who lost her singles 8-50 and Savannah for both putting up a good fight in their singles

Overall, St Cyprian’s won the fixture 6-0. However, it was a truly wonderful afternoon of tennis and one couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable final fixture. The girls are looking foward to Inter-schools on Saturday 11 March as they represent Wynberg one last time.
