indoor hockey18 January: Indoor Hockey vs Fairmont at Fairmont

The 1st team played an intense indoor hockey game against Fairmont and were very pleased to end on a 2-1 win, considering we had only had one practice together this term. The game was well-contested by both teams, with Fairmont scoring first through a PC drag-flick. However, our Wynberg team finally clicked and formed constructive connections, resulting in Maree Petersen slamming home the equaliser, thanks to a beautiful pass from Amina Williams. Aaminah Domingo was denied what would have been our 2nd goal by the umpire, but Kayla Morgan did justice to some excellent build-up and scored the winning goal. Our goalkeeper, Chelsea van der Berg kept us in the game with some incredible saves! We can’t wait to keep growing as a team and to reach success in all the games we play.

2nd Team Indoor hockey girls played against Fairmont. The team was very excited to start the season and went in with positive vibes wanting to win the game.
It was a very intense game which saw both teams having many opportunities to score with a total of 5 short corners to us and 4 short corners against.
In the end it was a fair result of 0-0. Man of the match is awarded to Sisi the goalkeeper.
The girls are happy with the performance and are keen for the season ahead.

The Grade 8 team put up a brave fight in their very first indoor hockey game against a more experienced Fairmont 3rd team. There is lots to still learn about the game and we look forward to growing as a players and as a team.
