indoor hockey stick1st team match vs Herschel

The tension was high as Wynberg and Herschel stepped on the court ready to play an intense game of Indoor Hockey. The game kicked off to a very convincing start as the Wynberg team created their first attacking shot corner, which Jamie Southgate scored, putting Wynberg in the lead. A lapse in concentration caused Herschel to counter attack and created a short corner from which  they then capitalized. A few moments after that Wynberg was caught on the back foot as the Herschel team put them under immense pressure, but Maree Petersen and Chelsea Manoek soaked up the pressure and defended well. Wynberg conceded four more short corners, two of which Chelsea Manoek successfully defended. In the last minute of the game Sasha Sivertsen and Amina Williams linked up their passes earning Wynberg a short corner, which Sasha drag flicked into the back of the net. The final score was 2-3 in favour of Herschel.

It was an enjoyable match that the Wynberg team will definitely learn from in order to improve for their next fixture. Well done girls!

2nd Team match vs Herschel

The Wynberg team definitely came out looking as though they meant business: and they did! The team played well together and defended a very tough Herschel side. Herschel scored all their goals from short corners, which meant that the girls held them very well and just need to work on defensive tactics within their circle. Despite the 5-0 loss, the team has improved from the week before and there’s no doubt that it will keep on improving from here. We are very proud of you girls and I look forward to the rest of the season.

3rd Team match vs Herschel
Wynberg 3rd indoor hockey team certainly didn’t give up until the whistle blew. In the first few minutes, they had a good start.  The girls kept low and and defence worked hard. They sent some good balls forward but unfortunately could not succeed with the goal opportunities they had.  Wynberg 3rds lost but have definitely improved since the last game and hopefully

Will continue to do so in every match to secure some wins soon.
