Perfect GoalUNDER 14A

The girls started off with a pace that made even their coach a bit nervous! Playing decisively and with inspiring purpose, Wynberg was in lead with 8 goals to 2 by the end of the first half. In the 2nd half, the girls didn’t give Springfield a chance to breathe. We witnessed excellent defending skills from Jade Irvin Smith, and Mia Boshoff, who restricted Springfield to only 3 more goals, while our shooters were on point. The full time score was 14-5: a very proud Wynberg Win.

The girls played an excellent game, with equally good communication on and off the court. All contributed to the success of the game resulting in the score of 11-1 in Wynberg’s Favor. Testimony to the team’s efforts. With the defensive players on point, Wynberg restricted Springfield from scoring in the 2nd half, and with everyone playing their part, we had a successful result. The final score was 23-1

What an excellent game played by the U16B squad. The game started off with Springfield having the starting center pass but the ball was soon intercepted by Lana Fouten and the first goal was scored in less than a minute! Despite the wet courts the team remained positive with exceptional communication happening in the circle between Hannah Muller and Kayla Welsh . GK and GD struggled on the other side as there were many short passes occurring that were not being blown for . The  half time score was 9-3 . In the second half, the team played exceptionally well especially Oki Banisi who did some amazing air maneuvers catching balls left right and center . GS and GA carried on the amazing goal shooting streak . Our final score was 20-5 . Player of the match goes to Kayla Welsh . This team can achieve great things if they continue this communication and team work .

On 21 April, the U19A netball team played a home match against Springfield. It was a great match for our girls, although they sometimes played a bit too fast, which caused some unnecessary mistakes. The defense was playing a lovely game and gained many interceptions, which helped to bring us into the lead. By half time the score was 10-3 to Wynberg. After a second half of fast-paced action, our girls won the match with a brilliant score of 20-12. A huge congratulations for the U19A’s first league match win, and a special mention to Lauren Wiemers (GA) and Erin Slater (GD) who both played an amazing game with Erin gaining most of the interceptions and Lauren who played a great game both inside and outside the circle. Well done girls!

On Thursday, 21 April Wynberg’s U19B netball team played against Springfield. The girls were able to score quickly with the use of their strategic center passes. The girls were able to secure most of their center passes. They kept the pressure on Springfield. This made Springfield make careless mistakes and in turn Wynberg were able to get the ball back. Masi Dimbazi made some beautiful interceptions with Dana Arries receiving woman of the match. At the end of the match Wynberg was victorious winning by a mere 1 point! It proves that they worked hard for the win, with the final score being 12-11. Keep up the great work girls!
