Tennis_Racket_and_BallsOn Saturday, 5 March the tennis girls played at the annual Interschools Tournament held at Sans Souci High School. The weather fortunately held up despite its being drizzly at some points during the day,

The tennis seems to improve every year at this event. Sportsmanship is also something the girls can pride themselves on.

Our junior teams struggled this year, but held their own by winning a number of games off their opponents. Erin Harris and Inge Tripod, for example, lost 4-3 to Herschel.  Our junior team ended 5th. They really enjoyed the experience and even as they played improved their games for many matches. The tournament brought out their best tennis yet.
Our A couple in the senior team seemed to lack strength at the beginning of the tournament but ended powerfully. Dana Arries snapped her tennis racquet strings, but despite this, she and her partner managed to secure 3 wins. Our B and C couples played a few lengthy matches. Many of them were very entertaining and there were a number of very satisfying aces. Well done to our senior team who ended fourth – not third as they had hoped – but there’s always next year!
We are very proud of you Wynberg! You played some Wimbledon class matches! Your training has certainly paid off.
