As a whole, the Waterpolo matches on Friday 6  February against Rhenish went well with Wynberg winning most of their matches. There was tremendous support and the atmosphere around the pool was buzzing. Once again, it was a great afternoon in the pool area.

Our Grade 8’s are learning fast and despite the fact that they have only just started playing have set the bar high. The u14A team won 15-8 and the u14B team won their match 7-3. With these impressive scores, we hope to see these teams to continue from strength to strength.

The u16As played a match against a feisty Rhenish side and were more or less level throughout the game, but let it slip in the 3rd chukka. Perhaps they were a little despondent after Rhenish scored a penalty to take them one up. The final result was 5-4 to Rhenish. The girls played a high level of polo and fought until the end.

The u16B team played a great waterpolo match against Rhenish. Wynberg scored the first goal of the match and stayed ahead from that point, with the final score being 6-3 to Wynberg.

Our 2nd team players took on a challenging match against a strong Rhenish side. Unfortunately, they lost their first match of the season, but they have every intention of learning from this game and look forward to the next match. A big mention must go out to Amber-Rose who scored a great penalty shot.

The first team started off with positive energy and a strong first chukka. At half time the team was still at a 4-3 lead, but mistakes were made – which serve as a learning curve for them – resulting in a final score of 8-5 to the opposition. The team did, however, manage to keep their heads up throughout and will continue to remain determined to improve on these areas to enable them to be on top of their game.
