On Friday, 13 February the Waterpolo teams played against Rustenburg. In their first chukka the u14B’s were greatly concentrated on the defence and attacking. In the 2nd chukka things started to slip up, but gradually in the last 2 chukkas they picked up their game, but still unfortunately lost 7-5. Congratulations to Ashleigh Rorich and Bilqees Abrahams for scoring the most goals.

The u14A match against Rustenburg was a little challenging and ended with a score of 5 – 3 to Rustenburg. As a team they will be working on improving taking more shots at goal and driving up the pool even when they are under pressure. The team members each achieved their own personal goals and will strive for even better results in the upcoming tournament.

The u16B water polo team played an exciting match against Rustenburg. Despite having many opportunities at goals they unfortunately lost 2-3 but hope to pick it up again in their next match.

The u16A’s had a positive start against Rustenburg, but let their heads drop, and the opposition took full advantage. The eventual score was 12-3. The women of the match were Kayleigh, Melissa, Sonja and Isobel for outstanding play under immense pressure. A special congratulations and acknowledgement must go to Brittany Gutuza, the goal keeper, who saved an extraordinary number of goals not only in this match but throughout the season. She has really shown great leadership and skills.

The 2nd team played a strong game against a feisty Rustenburg side. They started strong, scoring 2 goals in the 1st chukka. Unfortunately their fitness let them down and they struggled to keep up and play as a team. In the end they lost with a very close 3-5. They do, however, look forward to improving as a team in their next game before they go on tour to Knysna.

The first team match between Wynberg and Rustenburg was an intense one. Both teams played extremely well and were fighting hard to get the scores up, but in the end it was a draw of 5-5. A big thank you goes to everyone who came to support the game.
