waterpolo1The  Second  Team started the afternoon off with a bang on Friday the  4th of November by beating Springfield 8 – 3. They are growing stronger as a team every week and communication has also improved drastically.  Players of the  Game   are awarded  to Tyra-Leigh Findlay who plays hole and defended  like a champ , and Emily Hansen who scored 5 goals with her incredible awareness and speed.

The u16A’s  game was extremely fast – paced. Both teams’ fitness and skills were evenly matched. Wynberg won 6-3 and the girls were extremely happy. Jenna Mentoor put up a good fight when defending and Jordan Mans (goalie) performed well and communicated throughout.

Unfortunately, the first team suffered a loss at the hands of old foes. The first chukka started off well, but after every goal conceded the girls began to become despondent.  Players of the  Game  go to the two goal-scorers – Maryam Adams and Olivia Walker . Special shout-out to Maria Stock for being extremely keen to take on the challenge of playing at u19 level against girls twice her size despite only being 14. The girls showed great heart and kept fighting even though some of the calls didn’t go our way. We hope to take this match and learn from it. Becoming stronger and more confident in our preparation for Walla Cup and St Peter’s next year as well as creating a culture of waterpolo by improving every single game- in the words of our coach, “Whether we are winning or losing, always finish strong.” We hope all of the teams will adopt our motto and show us what they’re made of next year.

Well done to all the teams that played this past Friday and a huge thank you to all who came and supported us.
