This weeks’ waterpolo opponents were Westerford High School and our U16Bs got the ball rolling. The team showed a lot of heart, but unfortunately lost 6-1.

The first chukka started well with a great goal by Wynberg. The girls fell a bit short as the game went on, a slight lack of fitness evident. Despite a few small setbacks, the girls still managed to have some great passages of play and shots on goal. Captain, Natheerah Noor, is proud of her girls and looks forward to the season ahead.

The U16As were up next. For the first game of the season, the team put up a good fight against the strong Westerford team. Lara Mills was a determined player while Jade Yardin and Mia Stock were brilliant swimmers. Unfortunately Wynberg lost the game 15-1 but it was a good wake-up call to increase the playing standards and keep training hard.

The u19B’s, playing the last match of the day, put up a great fight and claimed a well-deserved win against some strong opposition. The defence and communication between the girls could have been slightly better, but overall it was a good start to the season. Player of the match goes to Aneeqah Davids who saved some amazing attempts at goals. The team looks forward to growing stronger as a unit throughout the season.

Well done to all the teams for their efforts on Friday. It looks to be the start of a promising season of  Waterpolo!
