Chelsea Tillett and Abigail Kempster were both chosen to represent WP in the Sanesa Regionals in George over the 7th to 12th August. George lived up to its name being cold and very wet for the first two days and everyone had fun working in the rain and mud to keep horses warm and dry and well fed while we all awaited the start of the competition. Thursday’s classes were moved over to Saturday due to the rain, which made Saturday a very busy day for all competitors.

Friday, the sun came out and the show began. There were riders representing three regions, Western Province, Boland and South Western Districts. Friday evening WP had a braai for all the competitors and handed out certificates to all the riders.

Saturday was a busy day and both girls had classes on for most of the day. The day closed with a parade from all three regions with Boland winning the spirit trophy.

Sunday was the final day and both girls had the day off to relax and take their horses for quite rides. The day ended with WP winning the overall event.

Riders were then selected to represent the Western Cape up in Johannesburg in September for the Sanesa Nationals. Both Chelsea and Abigail were selected for all of their classes, but unfortunately due to the high expense involved will not be going.

The final results for each girl and their trusty steeds were as follows:

Chelsea Tillet and Howling Wind:

Equitation – 1st

Working Riding – 3rd

Working Hunter – 4th

Performance Riding – 5th

Abigail Kempster and Tatooine Undercover:

Working Riding – 1st

Performance Riding – 7th

Both Show Jumping classes – 3rd

Overall fantastic results from both of them.
