Interact clubs connected to Wynberg Rotaract were invited to indulge in an afternoon of service at Wynberg Girls’ High School. Interactors from Wynberg Boys’, Pinelands, Springfield, Norman Henshilwood and Heathfield High School attended the social.

The afternoon began with a few fun ice breakers and then everyone was split into 4 groups who would each be working on different service projects.

One group planted, decorated and named pot plants to give to the children at Tenterden Place of Safety to teach the children the importance of environmental sustainability. Another group learnt how to make sherbet in all kinds of flavours to send to Tenterden as well. They then delivered the sherbet and pot plants to Tenterden. The children were very excited to receive their individualized treats. All Interactors thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were moved by the gratitude of these children.

Another two groups worked on goods to be taken to Victoria Hospital for the Children’s Ward. One group made colourful balls of play dough and the other cut out pictures for story books that we hoped would spark the imaginations of the children. The Interactors were all very encouraged by how easily a sick child’s day could be made a great deal better by a little ball of dough and some exciting pictures. Random acts of kindness really do go a long way!

Once everyone returned from delivering their goods, everyone interacted enthusiastically, discussing new projects and ideas they would be working on next to make a difference in the Wynberg community.
