On Friday the 10 May 2013, eleven girls from Silverlea visited Murambi House to wish the elderly women a ‘Happy Mothers’ Day’. We had an incredibly friendly nurse take us around the house and had the opportunity to hand over treats to all the women. Each one greeted us with a warm smile and conveyed immense appreciation.  We met with such welcoming personalities who told us stories of their youth, their mothers and being mothers. Some of the most moving moments were when the old ladies told us we reminded them of family members. Despite the fact that we had never met them before, our faces sparked warm memories of times gone by.

Just before we left, we met an elderly lady who thoroughly entertained us by singing AND dancing to the well-known ‘Click’ song.

It was an incredibly heart warming visit. Our experiences with the elderly were memorable and to realise that giving up just an hour of our time meant so much to someone else was exceptionally moving.

Girls who attended: Zoe Johnson, Azraa Conrad, Kelsey Neething, Azraa Matthews, Dominique Mingo, Jade Simpson, Jay-Mee Henderson, Kayla Bailey, Mercedes Phillips and Tayla Kirkby.
