Spotlight on: past pupil, Tasha Ainsworth – the best in South Africa and off to Alvin Ailey School of Dance!

Tasha Ainsworth - winnerWe recently got wind of what past pupil, Tasha Ainworth, has been up to. It would come as no surprise to those who know her that since matriculating in 2016, she has continued to apply herself to her dancing with the quiet commitment and inspiration she has always demonstrated.
During the month of May she once again participated in the Cape Town Eisteddfod, in which she continued to win numerous awards, including “best senior entrant” in the Modern Dance Section. And on 7 May, in her Final Modern dance exam (Solo Performers) at the Association of International Dance Teachers studios in Johannesburg  she came top in the country.  She also came second in the Bursary competition up there.
Tasha spent three weeks training in New York City in February, and has been accepted for the six week Summer Intensive at Alvin Ailey, and for the year-long course of training there. (The Ailey School’s Summer Intensive Program gives motivated students with at least three years of consistent training the opportunity to study dance in the heart of New York City’s Theatre District.  The Intensive is structured to advance the technical, artistic, and performance skills of dancers by offering an exciting variety of techniques, repertory workshops, and performance opportunities.) She leaves for the six week course on Friday, 23 June.
