Many Wynberg girls spent their cold and stormy Sunday morning running or assisting at The Sunflower Fund Fun Run on 15 September.

Wynberg Girls’ High has a long and deeply personal history with the Sunflower fund – their first Sunflower Bandana girl, Lindy Anderson, was a Grade 11 student at our school when she heard in February that she had Leukaemia, and after a brave and spirited struggle died just 2 days short of a year later.

It was an important day for all: there were aspects that were hugely enjoyable – especially the delicious ice-cream waiting at the finish line – but really it is the knowledge of the significance of the work  in the lives of those suffering with blood disorders, such as Leukaemia that has greater meaning. All funds went to build the South African Bone Marrow Registry to assist with finding donors to save lives.
