Many of Wynberg’s practise days have been rained out, but on match day there was not a cloud in the sky. The Wynberg A sides were first to play. Wynberg was determined and started off strong. The girls intercepted a number of passes and the defenders restricted the Springfield shooters soo much so that they decided that they’d only shoot from the edge of the circle. Wynberg led all four quarters and finished off the game, winning 27-18. A big well done to another high score for the first team.

Best attacker: Natalie Winter

Highest goal scorer:  Alex Steyn

This match was a very exciting match; it’s the best the u19B side have ever played. With their tall attackers on one side, their lightning quicker midfield players and their tight defence, there was no stopping this team from demolishing Springfield. The game had started off slowly, to their standards, with the loss of one of their key players Asanda Masoka. The first half ended off 16-5 to Wynberg.  Wynberg continued to dominate during the second half. They stole many of Springfield’s centre passes; the spectators couldn’t even keep count. The girls almost doubled the score line. The final score was a whopping 31- 11.

Wynberg Girls’ High played against Springfield Girls’ High School at Springfield. The U16A played a fast game with Wynberg leading at half time ( 9-5 ).  Wynberg maintained their lead through to the end of the match, with a final score of 29-9. Player of the match went to WD, Masi Dimbaza, who has been playing exceptionally well in the past couple of matches. Well done to our girls on a well deserved win.

Wynberg Girls’ High played against Springfield Girls’ High School at Springfield. The U16B played a slow paced game, with Wynberg leading by 2 points at half time with a score of 4-2. The game gradually picked up in pace near the end of the game with the girls winning the game 11-4. The defence has improved greatly as has the shooting.  Player of the match was awarded to WD, Vuya Puzi who kept a tight defense on her opponent and made numerous interceptions throughout the game. Overall a good match, well done girls.

The girls tried their best, but with so many team mates ill they could pull it through. They played a defensive game, but the Springfield GS did not miss a single shot.

U14 A

The girls were really excited to start playing since the B team had such a good result.  With a tough game ahead, Wynberg started out in the lead, converting 2 of Springfield’s centre passes, leaving the half time score at 6-4 to Wynberg.  The 2nd half, Wynberg showed no mercy, with excellent defense shown by Jade De Villiers and Helena Veysey, left Springfield with a limited source of options.

Player of the match goes to Kayla Morgan for her outstanding effort in the Circle.

Springfield started with the first centre pass of the game, which Wynberg intercepted, showing that they were ready to put in an awesome performance.  Wynberg’s passes were accurate and quick. Half time score was 8-1 to Wynberg.  Springfield played well in the 2nd half putting loads of pressure on our top shooter Tyla-Rae Hogan, but never the less, the girls worked around it, and were victorious at the end of the day.

Highest Goal Scorer : Tyla-Rae Hogan

Best Attacking Player : Okwethu Banisi

Best Defense Player : Chelsea Dallas

Half time score : 8-1

Full Time Score : 13-4 to Wynberg

The girls made the most of the lovely weather at our neighbouring school and showed them what we are capable of! We dominated every aspect of the game and thankfully the end result reflected that. Great game, girls!
