Zee HartmannThe Dance Society welcomed their new  permanent extra mural dance teacher, Zee Hartmann, on Tuesday 2 February to Wynberg Girls’ High School.

Educated at Herschel Girls’ School, Zee Hartmann graduated in 2004 with her BA in Theatre Arts and Dance at Beloit College in Wisconsin. In 2005, she travelled to Moscow with Chelonia Dance Company as a soloist to perform in the Festival of Choreographic Collectives, for which they received grand prix accolades. She received her MFA in Dance at Sarah Lawrence College, New York, in 2011.

She has been awarded scholarships and numerous awards for her choreography, dance and her work in theatre. She has taught extensively and is currently employed as a part-time Specialty Teacher (Drama, Music, Ballet) at the American International School of Cape Town in Constantia. She is the Artistic Director and Founder of The Line & Light Dance Collective in Cape Town and is the Editor of the South African Life Performances Archives, an annual survey of South African performances

At Wynberg her approach with the Dance Society will be one of exploration of dance movements, and working with choreography, improvisation, strengthening and technique, we all expect hard work and tons of fun! We are extremely excited for the future of the society and will soon begin working towards our annual Showcase.
